Feathered Fun #2

I decided to create another card using the Feathered Fun Photopolymer Stamp Set, featuring one of the other birds.  The card looks like a winter card, but I'm sure you can make it look like a summer card if you change the colors, etc.  I wanted to do something similar to cardinals.  You'll understand more as you watch the video.

Fine Feathered Fun!

I experimented with a new stamp set today. Thank you to Alisa Tilsner, from Australia, for her ideas.  I cased her card.  The stamps in this set are reversible, so you can stamp on both sides!  You can use them with a layered effect (similar to two-step stamping) or you can use them to do some shadowing.  My video today shows the layered effect and a coloring method using our watercolor pencils and the blender pens.  You can watch the video to see how this card was made.  Below is the products and measurements used.

Column Pop-Up Card

Are you ready to make a card that truly pops? This Center Column Pop-Up Card is so easy to create.  It makes a really cute and/or pretty card. I recommend watching the video to see how it is put together.  Below are the products used and the steps by which this card was made.

The paper used in my video was:

  • Melon Mambo Cardstock
  • Terrific Toadstools 6" X 6" Designer Series Paper
  • Basic White Cardstock
  • Pumpkin Pie Cardstock
  • Early Espresso Cardstock

First, you will need two 8-1/2" X 5-1/2" pieces of the Melon Mambo Cardstock

One piece you will score at 4-1/4" to fold it to make your base card.

The second piece you will make several scores: On the 8-1/2" side, score at:  1/2", 1-1/4", 2", 2-3?4", 5-1/2", 6-1/4" 7", and 7-3/4".  You will then slide the paper to 8-1/2" and cut 1/4" off the end.  This piece will be 5-1/2" X 8-1/4" in its entirety.

Next, you will fold on all the score lines and crease them good with your bone folder.  You will then fold the ends to the back to create 2 pillar columns, one on each side.
You can then glue the two columns to your base.  Watching the video will help you understand how to do this.

Choose a piece of 6" X 6" Designer Series Paper and emboss it.  ( I used the 6" X 6" Terrific Toadstools. Then you will cut a 5/8" X 5-1/2" piece, a 2-1/2" X 5-1/2" piece, and then one more 5/8" X 5-1/2" piece.  As you watch the video, you will see how to apply these pieces and decorate your card. I used the Terrific Toadstools Photopolymer Stamp Set.

Below is the list of products used in this project.  Click on the image(s) you are interested in and you will be led directly to my shop!  Have fun with this card!  Happy Stamping!

Diamond Pop-Up Card

I've been looking at several different type of pop-up cards.  This one is so beautiful and a lot of fun to make.  There are several parts to it, so it does take some time.  In the video, I made a mistake with the pillar mechanism.  I was able to fix it, but I may have caused some confusion in the process.  You will want to watch my Simple Sunday video, (Column Pop-Up Card).  I start out by clarifying how the pillar mechanism works.  I'm trusting that will clear up any confusion.

The paper used for this project is:

  • Shaded Spruce Cardstock
  • Pecan Pie Cardstock
  • Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper
  • Basic White Cardstock

Your card base - Shaded Spruce - will be 8-1/2" X 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4" and then at 2-1/8".  You will fold the card back on itself.

The inside mat - Pecan Pie - is 4-1/8" X 5-3/8".  The DSP Layer- Nest of Winter - that goes on top of that is 4" X 5-1/4"

You will need two mat pieces for the columns - Pecan Pie, both cut to 2" X 5-3/8"

Two DSP Layers _ Nests of Winter that layer on top of those mat pieces are cut 1-7/8" X 5-1/4"

Three mat squares - Pecan Pie, are 1-7/8" X 1-7/8"

Three squares of the DSP- Nests of Winter are 1-3/8" X1-3/8".  I used the 2nd largest stitched square from Stylish Shapes Dies.

Adhere one of the squares to the top/middle portion of the prism.  Make sure you only put enough glue on the one side that attaches to the prism.  The other two squares will line up with the fold, corner to corner, one at the top, and one at the bottom.  They will meet in the middle with a little space in between them.

The Pop-Up Mechanism is 2" X 5" (Pecan Pie). Score this piece at 1", 2", 3" & 4".  Trim a 1/16" strip on one end of the piece with your Paper Snips and adhere it inside the other end.  Once the glue is set, you can unfold it to form a rectangular prism.

Lay this prism flat and place glue on two of the columns.  Open up the prism and one glued side will lie on the base of the card, and the other glued side will lie against the column that folds into the card base.

Add your sentiment to the top of the card using the side and message you want.  You can add a Basic White Cardstock piece (4-1/8" X 5-3/8") to the back of the card to write your own words on.  I would advise you to write your message before adhering it to the card.  If you don't, you will "fight" with the lumps and bumps of all pieces.

Below are all the products listed that were used for this card.  If you wish to purchase any of these products, please click on the image(s) below.  In doing so, you will go straight to my shop.

Thanks for joining me today.  I trust you will enjoy making this card yourself.  Happy Stamping!
