Tickled Tuesday - Joseph's Coat Technique

This card was a lot of fun and gave an interesting "twist" of making a card.  I found it to be easier to do than what it looked.

The colors I used in this card were Early Espresso, Old Olive, Real Red Merry, Merlot, Pumpkin Pie and Melody Mango.  I used some of our gold foil, our white twine and the Gorgeous Leaves stamp set, with the Intricate Leaves dies.  I also used versa mark stamp ink, my blending brushes, my clear embossing powder and my Stampin' Up! embossing heat gun.

I took a 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" piece of Early Espresso, scored at 4-1/4".  Then I cut a white piece and a gold piece that were cut 5-1/4" x 4".  The white piece I stamped a leaf twice in one corner with Old Olive. That became the inside of my card, so I adhered that.  The gold piece I laid aside while I took the white piece and using my blending brushes I painted spots of the paper with the different colors.

Next I took the stamps of three leaves and stamped them with the Versa Mark.  This is a clear stamp and when applied to the card, I could see the stamps shine a little bit, so I could see where I had placed them.

When I completed that step, I took my clear embossing powder  and covered the piece I had stamped all over.  When I brushed away the excess powder you could see where the Versa Mark showed.  I then took my embossing heat gun and heated up the powdered spots until they were clear.  From there, I took my Early Espresso ink and with a paper towel I dabbed and rubbed in the ink all over the area, completely covering it.  In doing so, the leaves appeared in the different colors while everything in between was covered in the dark brown.

The next step was to adhere that to the gold piece.  Then I wrapped around those two pieces about 16-30 inches of white twine, tying a bow to one side.  I trimmed the ends.  Then I put the maple leaf die cut through my Stampin' Up! Cut and Embossing machine.  I cut that in olive green cardstock.

After adhering what I had just completed to the front of my card base.  I took some glue dots and adhered the die cut to the front end.

You can see the entire process in my Tickled Tuesday video.

Simple Sunday - Hinged Card

Today I had fun making a Baby Hinged Card.  The card actually "grew" as the sentiment suggested and it turned out really cute!

For this card, I used Bermuda Bay, Early Espresso, Real Red, Basic White, Soft Seafoam, Bumble bee and Blushing Bride cardstock. I used Bermuda Bay color from our Brights Designer Series Paper (DSP) and I used patterned DSP from our Pattern Party DSP set, which incidentally, is only offered to you if you host a party with me!

I used our Layering Circle Dies, All for Baby Stamp Set, and the Baby Clothes Dies. I also used 7" of our Pool party Ribbon, and white brads from our White and Black Brads embellishments. I used Dimensionals to raise the bear and the sentiment.

I cut out all the Circles that I wanted and then cut the bear (early espresso), the inside of his ears (blushing bride), and heart (real red) from the Baby Clothes Dies set.  I hand cut out the inside of the bears paws (also blushing bride).  I drew his eyes, nose and mouth on.  I adhered my ribbon to the back of the smallest circle with glue dots.

Using the Baby Clothes Dies set, I also cut out the hanger and onesie.  The onesie was cut from our party patterned DSP, and the hanger was from our bumblebee cardstock--just a scrap piece that I had laying around. I did end up using some 2020-2022 In Colors Gems on the middle circle as well. I used the heart pattern from the Patterned Party DSP and I stamped my sentiment on Basic White cardstock.  The sentiment came from the All for Baby Stamp Set.

Once all my circles were in place I took my smallest and medium size circles, placing the medium one upside down, with the smallest circle on top.  At the bottom I pierced a small hole through both circles and inserted a white circle brad.  Next I turned my largest circle upside down and placed it under the medium sized circle.  At the bottom I pierced another small hole and inserted a white circled brad.

As you will see in the video, When you pull on the ribbon, they all unfold in such a way that the baby card has actually grown taller!  It was a lot of fun to make, and I think it turned out pretty cute!

September Paper Pumpkin --Haunts and Harvest

My Paper Pumpkin arrived today.  I was so excited to receive this because I knew Stampin' Up used the box to create something special as well.  They really made great use of all the space provided in this kit.  I was so excited!

In my video I showed an unboxing of the contents and promised to show you what I did, here on my blog.  I made a pumpkin, a turkey, and the wheel barrow!

The pumpkin I used one of the fanned sheets that were provided.  I folded and glued each tab with the glue strips that they provided.  I stamped a couple of the leaf punch outs and one of the sentiment tabs.  The I took one of the paper "straws" that were in the box and wove it around the sentiment and leaves.  Using glue dots, I secured them all into position with each other.  I took a dimensional (not included) to adhere the set to the top of the pumpkin.  Oh -  I also added the sticky mouth and eyes to the pumpkin.

For the turkey, I took one fanned set just for the turkey, then I took two other fanned sets and cut them down.  I took the two and glued them together to make the turkey's feathers, gently folding, but not creasing them to give the feathers a 3D effect.

I made a beak out of Pumpkin Pie cardstock, and a gobbler out or Real Red cardstock.  I glued the two together with a glue dot and adhered them to the front of the turkey with a small dimensional.  I found some googly eyes that I had so I added them to make the turkey fun.

I put together the wheelbarrow according to their instructions and completed the entire project.  If you would be interested in watching the make of the wheelbarrow you may click here.

What cute set!

Team Challenge - G - Gift card Holder

We all have someone who would appreciate a gift card from their favorite place.  Today's post covers another  letter of my team challenge - "G" for Gift Card Holder.  I made two cards.  I used the following colors:  Cherry Cobbler, Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen, and Misty Moonlight. I used the Wintry 3D Embossing Folder Set, found on page 155 of our annual catalog.  I also used the Designer Series Paper, and the Tidings and Trimmings Bundle from page 89 of our annual catalog. (The tidings and trimmings stamp set and the Christmas Trimmings die set). I also used a few items from our July-December 2021 Mini Catalog: Snowy White 12" x 12" Velvety Sheets, found on page 37, and the Be Dazzling 6" x 6" Specialty Paper which was offered free in our Sale a Bration Brochure, page 3.

I started off with both card bases made from Cherry Cobbler cardstock, 6-3/8" x 4-3/8".  I took an envelope that was 6-1/2" x 4-/1/2" in size.  I folded it in half.  I then cut the flap down the middle where the fold was.  Looking at the envelope with the fold and flap towards me, I trimmed the inside of the left flap down so when the card was folded inside, there wasn't a lot of "bunching up" of the paper.  I then glued the left flap down.  I also cut the sticky - adhesive part on the right - hand flap.  Then I stamped a message from the Tidings and Trimmings stamp set on that flap. (this is the side the gift card will go in. In one card, I stamped a series of stars with soft succulent, to decorate the inside. The other card I left blank, just to show the variety of what can be done.

Next I folded the envelope back in half, cut a 16" ribbon.  I placed the ribbon around the envelope leaving the ends open on the side where the fold was not.  The ribbon was then adhered to both sides of the envelope.

I took a 2-1/8" x 3-2/8" of Basic White cardstock, and a 4-2/8" x 3-1/8" of Designer Series Paper.  I embossed the cardstock with a Wintry 3D embossing folder. I took a blending brush, tapping it in the ink pad I was using (soft succulent or misty moonlight) and lightly brushed over the embossment.  When I was done I adhered the cardstock to the DSP.

Next I had cut out some images from the Christmas Trimmings dies set out of the BE Dazzing paper and the Trimmings and Tidings DSP.  On the stocking gift card holder, I also cut out some stocking from the Snowy White Velvety Sheets and cut off the top to adhere to the DSP stockings so that they had a soft feel to them.  I placed all my cut outs on the cards using Dimensionals (page 167 AC).  I added an extra touch my using our Holiday Rhinestones and Metallic Pearls on each card.  My leader thought they were "super cute!" and so do I.

Gift Tag Card

One of the challenges that was given to us as part of our team challenge was a sketch inspiration.  It was regarding the use of a gift tag, and how to make that into a card.  I made a fall card using Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper, (found on pages 10-11 of our 2021-2022 Annual Catalog) and Cinnamon Cider Ribbon.  The colors used for this card were Merry Merlot, Cinnamon Cider, Bumble Bee, and Old Olive. I also used the Pretty Pumpkins stamp set and the Detailed Pumpkins dies.  I made the tag using the Tailor Made Tags die set.

The card base was 5-1/2" X 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4" (or folded in half)

The Olive Green Background Designer Series Paper measures 5-1/4" by 4".

I used the largest Tag from the die set and one of the printed patterns from Beauty of the Earth.  I wrapped the ribbon around the back of the olive green background, tacking it in place.  I put one end of the ribbon through the back of the hole, of the tag, and tied the two ends into a bow.  I then placed the tag at an angle.

I cut out the pumpkin (bumblebee cardstock) and leaf (old olive cardstock) from the Detailed Pumpkins dies and the sentiment used is from the Pretty Pumpkins stamp set.

The card was really easy to make and it made a beautiful fall card!  I hope you like it as much as I did making it!  See it here!

Team Challenge--Accessories

For the month of September, my team leader has put together a team challenge called the Stamping A - B - C challenge.  We are encouraged to make 10 projects throughout the month.  We have choices, per letter and the first one, being the letter A we have the option of accessories or alphabet.

Since I don't have the alphabet in a stamp set, nor dies, I have chosen to go with accessories.  Accessories are the finishing touches that are added to a card to make them "pop."  It can be ribbon, embellishments, or something that stands out a bit because of the use of dimensionals.  It can be blending brushes or pens, etc.

I have chosen for this challenge to do all my cards in a Fall or Christmas theme as we are now getting into the holiday season.  Soon we will find colors of leaves falling to the ground and as of Halloween, children will start making their Christmas gift wish list.

I have chosen to use the Delicate Dahlias stamp set for today's card.  It was one of the free items that are given when there is an order of $100.00 or more.  It is found on pages 14-15 of our Sale A Bration Brochure.

Our Sale A Bration ends the 30th of this September, so don't miss out on a great opportunity to get some free product!  Shop at my store and put my name down as your demonstrator.  Place your order and within 7-10 business days you will have your order and free product!

The Delicate Dahlias Stamp Set has two sets of stamps.  One that is an outline of the Dahlia, and one that fills in the color of the Dahlia.

You can use the outline only and color it with blending pens, colored pencils, etc., but for this project, I chose to use the other stamp to fill in the color of each flower.  This is called the two-step process of stamping.

For this project I used a 5-/1/2" x 8-1/2" sheet of Early Espresso Cardstock and 2-4" x 5-1/4" of Basic White Cardstock.  The colors I used for the Dahlias are Cinnamon Cider, Bumble Bee, Cajun Craze, Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent, Garden Green, Old Olive, and for the sentiment--Early Espresso.

I started by stamping the outlined images on the front white card and on the inside white card.  Then I filled in each outline with the coordinating colors.  My final step of stamping was the sentiment.

My added accessories were placing some Wink of Stella on the center Dahlia, to help it be a focal point to the card.  I then glued each of the white cards to the Early Espresso base. To finish up the card, I placed a Champagne Rhinestone on each Dahlia, both on the outside and the inside.

There it is team!  My first card for this challenge!  Watch my video to see how it was all put together!

Gingerbread & Peppermint Suite

The Gingerbread and Peppermint Suite is scrumptiously inviting!  It reminds me so much of Christmas time and is a blast to create with!  With the colorful DSP, and Kraft paper, the fun stamps, dies and the acrylic shaker pieces. Whether you are making a Christmas card or a cookie creation, you will enjoy the flavorful creations with this suite, found on pages 8-9 of our 2001 July-December Mini Catalog.  Added to this suite is our Pretty Pillow Dies, which were presented in an earlier post.

Cutting out images from the Designer Series Paper I was able to create the following:

By using the Kraft paper, I cut out cookie shapes.  I then took a blending brush and brushed over the sides of the cookies with our Early Espresso Ink, to make them look like they came from the oven.  Using the more intricate dies I cut out the shape designs in white and glued those on top to give the icing effect.  This made the sentiment very realistic for this card.

Using extra accessories such as the Wink of Stella, our Wonderful White felt-like paper, the Acrylic Shakers, and our Tailor Made Tag Dies, I put together a variety of gift tags for ideas to make at Christmas time.

That concludes my Gingerbread and Peppermint Suite introduction. I think I am finally caught up on all of my projects.  This next week we will be looking at the freebies you can gather from purchasing during our Sale a Bration period.
