Decorative Masks

When opening door #5 from our 12 Days of Crafting Advent Calendar, a surprise of a set of decorative masks was revealed.  You can watch the video to see how these were used in my demonstration.  I was having technical difficulties and made part two of our project.

Today, I am not going to tell you how to put your card together.  What I am going to do is give you tips that will help you make the perfect card!

You will find that with a set of masks, there is an order that is provided to put your images together.  You will want to put these in order.  After closely looking at each mask, you will want to choose the colors you wish to use.  Next, you will want to trace around the first mask, or find some way to indicate where your mask is being placed.  Making sure that the notch on each mask is going in the same direction, you will place the next one in the exact spot as your first one.

You will need to squeeze your ink pads together, pushing the top half of the pad against the bottom half, so when you open it you will find a small pool of ink on the bottom half of your ink case.  This is the spot where you will draw your ink from, to paint with.  Once your first mask is set up you may begin painting!

In review:
  • Put your masks in order.
  • Choose the colors you will want to use.
  • Trace or place tick marks so you can line up each mask correctly.
  • Press your ink pads together to form a pool of ink on the inside bottom of your ink pad.
  • Put your first mask in place and begin to paint.
  • Every time you line up a new mask, be sure the notches go in the same direction.

Basic tools that you will need for this project are:
  • Base Card:  Color of your choice 8-1/2" by 5-1/2"
  • Layer of Designer Series Paper:  5-1/4" X 4"
  • Basic White Cardstock, any size you choose to make your image for your card.
  • Choose any embellishments that you think will work best with your card.
  • Bone Folder
  • Stampin' Seal
  • Paper Trimmer

A Christmas Birthday

Hello Friends!  As I finish up remodeling my craft room, I continue to put together cards and projects through my Simple Sunday videos.  This week I am making a Christmas Birthday card -- an alternative to the cards found in the October Paper Pumpkin Kit.  It is a very simple option and a nice card to share with someone you know has a birthday in December.  Check out my video to see what it's all about.

All the materials you need are supplies from the October Paper Pumpkin Kit, Cozy Christmas, and the gift provided in door #4 from our 12 Days of Crafting Advent Calendar.

I basically took a different card base and a layer piece.  Dressed up one of the punch-outs a bit differently and added a label from our Advent calendar.  Very simple, but very nice.

If you don't have the October Paper Pumkin Kit, you can do the same type of thing with any of the kits you may have purchased from Stampin' Up!  Let your creative juices go and have fun with it!  Join me next Sunday, November 9th to see what we did with the gift provided in door #5 and what prize is found behind door #6!

Happy Crafting!
