Back To School

The school year has been in session for a couple of weeks now and everyone is starting to get settled in.  Today's card is part of a series of cards that I have made.  I call them my "Back to School" set.  This card, in particular, can be given to a teacher, office personnel, or an assistant...the choice is totally up to your child!

These are the materials you will need:

  • Card Base: 5-1/2" X 8" scored at 4-1/4" (I used Pumpkin Pie Cardstock)
  • Top Layer: 5-1/4" x 4" DSP (I used the Wonderful World--now retired.  You can make your choice))
  • Inside Layer: 5-1/4" x 4" (I used Basic White Cardstock)
  • 2-3/4" x 3/4" strip (pumpkin pie scrap)
  • 2-1/2" x 5/8" strip (basic white scrap)
  • Cheerful Basket Bundle
  • Soft Seedlings Stamp Set (for sentiment)
  • 4" x 4" Early Espresso Cardstock
  •  11" of Embroidered Ribbon
  • Brushed Brass Butterflies
  • Real Red Blending Pens
  • Old Olive Blending Pens
  • Black Memento Stamp Ink Pad
  • Early Espresso Stamp Ink Pad
  • Old Olive Stampin' Ink Pad (for sentiment)
  • Multi-Purpose Glue
  • Stampin' Seal
  • Stampin' Dimensionals
  • Mini Glue Dots
  • Bone Folder
  • Take Your Pick Tool
  • Paper Snips
  • Mini Cut and Emboss Machine

I used Pumpkin Pie Cardstock for my base.  I used Basic White for the inside of my card, and the Wonderful World Designer Series Paper (which has now retired) for the top layer of my card.  I set aside two strips of paper, the larger one was with Pumpkin Pie and the smaller strip was basic white.  I stamped my sentiment on the white, using a saying from the Soft Seedlings Stamp Set.  Using my Paper Snips, I made one side of each strip into a banner or flag piece. I took one of the basket dies, one of the basket stamps, and the pile of apples stamp from the Cheerful Basket Bundle.  I used the Early Espresso Stampin' Ink Pad to stamp the basket on Early Espresso cardstock.  I then cut that out with one of the dies.  I took the apples stamp and stamped the image onto some Basic White cardstock, using Black Memento Ink, and cut that out with a die cut as well.

I colored the apples and leaves with our Real Red and Olive Green Blending Pens.  Using the Multi-Purpose Glue, I adhered the apples' end to the basket's top end-back side.  I adhered the whole basket of apples with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Next, I took my Basic White strip and adhered that to the Pumpkin Pie Strip with the Stampin' Seal. Then I placed the entire sentiment on the card with Stampin Dimensionals as well.

Cutting 11" of the Embroidered Ribbon, I made a bow and adhered that to the basket with a mini glue dot.  To top it all off, I took the Take Your Pick Tool and placed 3 Brushed Brass Butterflies on the card.  I burnished the card with my Bone Folder, and it was finished!

Love it!  Love it!  Check out my video to see what other Back to School Cards I made!
