Winter Cascading Card

Learning another fun fold today!  It's been around for a while, but it is new to me and really a cool-looking card!  It's three different levels and I'm using a new Designer Series Paper that will be available this Thursday, January 5th!  I think you'll like it!

This is what you will need to make this card:

  • Base Card: (2) 6" x 8" Pacific Point Cardstock
  • Designer Series Paper (2) 5-7/8" x 7-7/8" Balmy Blue Square Pattern of Dandy Designs DSP
  • Cottage Wreaths Stamp Set
  • Scalloped Contours Dies
  • Pacific Point Classic Stamp Pad
  • Wonderful Snowflakes
  • Balmy Blue Double Stitched Ribbon
  • Paper Snips
  • Mini Glue Dots
  • Stampin' Seal or Multipurpose Liquid Glue
  • Bone Folder
  • Paper Trimmer

Step One:  Cut two pieces of your Cardstock.  Using both pieces, on the 6" side, make a tick mark at 3".  Place that tick mark at the top end of the cutting edge and the bottom right-hand corner on the bottom half of the cutting edge.  Cut from the tick mark to the corner.  (This is a diagonal cut) Turn the piece upside down so the flat-straight side is at the top of your paper trimmer.  Score each piece at 2", 4", and 6". Fold each piece on the score lines.  You should be able to lay each piece butted against each other with the high point at the top, and the folds are opposite of each other.

Step Two:  On one of the pieces, you will cut on score lines 2" and 6" from the bottom halfway up, and on the second piece, you will cut on score lines 2" and 6" from the top halfway down.

Step Three:  Take one of the DSP pieces and on the 5-7/8" side, make a tick mark at 2-7/8".  Place that tick mark at the top end of the cutting edge and the bottom right-hand corner on the bottom half of the cutting edge. Cut from the tick mark to the corner.  Then place the flat-straight side to the top of your trimmer and cut four pieces at 1-7/8" each. Next, take your second piece of DSP and flip it over to the other design.  Again, on the 5-7/8" side, make a tick mark at 2-7/8".  Place that tick mark at the top end of the cutting edge and the bottom right-hand corner on the bottom half of the cutting edge. Cut from the tick mark to the corner.  Place the flat-straight side to the top of the trimmer and cut four pieces at 1-7/8" each.  You should have two sets of DSP that are the same design, but opposite in position.

Step Four:  Make two labels, one that will go on the front of the card, and one that will go on the back.  I used the Scalloped Contours Dies.  The front label will be for your sentiment, and the back label will be your message.  Both of these labels will help keep your card in place.

Step Five: You will now assemble your card.  First, glue your DSP pieces in their respective panels. Put your panels together by sliding the cut scores together.  Adhere your labels to the front and back and apply any embellishments that you may have.

Here you have it!
