These cute songbirds will put a smile on the face of any receiver! You can get the Sweet Songbirds Stamp Set, found on page 31 of the Annual 2022-2023 Annual Catalog.
I saw a video from a demonstrator, Lisa Curcio, on how she used this stamp set and I fell in love with it. Her card was for advanced stampers, and because my video was my Simple Sunday Video, I made a version of what she did for a simpler card. So let me show you what it was all about:
- Cardbase: 4" x 11", scored and folded at 5-1/2", Pacific Point Cardstock
- Birdhouse layer: 4" x 5-1/4, Mossy Meadow
- Layer behind birdhouse window: 3-3/4" by 4" Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper
- Inside Layer: 3-3/4" x 5-1/4" Basic White
- Nest, and back piece for sentiment were both made with Soft Suede Cardstock
- Basic White Cardstock to print bird and branch
- Scraps: 5/8" x 2" Basic White Cardstock, 3/4" x 2-1/4" Soft Suede Cardstock
- Sweet Songbirds Builder Punch to punch out bird and branch
- Stylish Shape Dies to cut the circles needed to make the hole for the birdhouse.
- Inks used were Pacific Point, Melon Mambo, Granny Apple Green, Soft Suede, and Memento Black
- Daffodil Delight Blending Pens
Using the Stylish Dies, counting from the outside of the set of circles, I took the 2nd and 3rd dies. I used the 3rd circle to cut the window to the birdhouse in the center of the mossy meadow cardstock. I used both 2nd and 3rd circles on basic white to cut the outside ring of the birdhouse window. I adhered that ring with a thin line of our Multi-Purpose Glue.
I adhered the Hues of Happiness DSP with Stampin Sealer on the backside of the birdhouse. I then adhered the birdhouse to the base.
I printed the bird and bird wing with Pacific Point Ink and cut them out with the builder punch. I colored the beak and breast of the bird with Daffodil Delight Blending Pens. I also stamped the branch with Soft Suede Ink and added the Granny Apple Green leaves and Melon Mambo flowers. I then fussy cut those out. The nest was stamped on Soft Suede Cardstock and hand cut as well. The Bird, the nest and the branch were all adhered with both sizes of our Stampin' Dimensionals.
Finally, I stamped my sentiment on a scrap of Basic White, used the Soft Suede as a background for it, and I stamped some music notes off to the side of it. My sentiment was adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals as well.
As stated earlier, the card shown by demonstrator, Lisa Curcio, was an advanced card - a 3D card. It was a lot of fun to create as well. Here is a picture of it.
